Welcome Explorer

During the second year of the Spiritual Direction Certificate program, students work with three people, for free, as a practicum. If you are interested in doing spiritual direction work, please click a website/email link for the students below and book a โ€œget to know youโ€ appointment. The two of you then can discern if you wish to work together. It is common practice to meet with 2-3 companions to discover together which match feels most right. Scroll down for suggested questions to ask at your get-to-know-you appointment. Appointments begin March 2026 – If your chosen spiritual companion does not have an opening, email us to get on the waitlist.  Please, leave space for someone who has not yet benefited from this opportunity. (If youโ€™ve already worked with a prior cohort, contact us directly for your referral.

Spiritual direction is mindfully sitting with another person with the intention of attending to their spiritual concerns in partnership with Spirit.

Spiritual Direction is the work of being a companion to seekers who wish to better understand and develop their relationship with the Divine. Through actively listening to the seeker and asking questions of the seeker, the companion is a very gentle guide who provides support and resources as needed to those who want to better understand their own spiritual path.

As a spiritual co-voyager, I partner with individuals who are ready to dive into the โ€œsoul laboratoryโ€ of their own lives. My practice is rooted in the belief that you are the ultimate authority of your own experience.

Spiritual Care – Cedar Monroe

Spiritual care offers space,  companionship, and deep listening as people explore their spirituality and find ways to embrace life authentically and courageously. I seek to offer people space to connect with their deepest selves, their ancestors, the land on which they live, and/or whatever their experience of the divine. I respect all spiritual paths, including those that are non-religious or undefined.

Spiritual Direction & Companionship is about witnessing and reflecting with a Seeker on who they are as a Spiritual Being.  Spirit Care can be a mirror, mentor, or midwife for the Seeker depending on where they are on their path.  I invite you to share your Spirit with me.

Nursing the soul with interfaith spiritual companionship, inviting all to fan the flames of the Spirit within. Spiritual direction provides a seeker with the space and companionship to explore their spiritual connections and how it relates to their lives.

My definition of spiritual direction/spiritual companioning,  like life, is something always in a state of growth. Currently it is accompanying another on their spiritual journey; witnessing, sharing, and collaboratively exploring another heartโ€™s relationship with The Sacred as they understand It with respect, integrity, and love.

Votaries Alumni Circle

In ancient and modern times, a person dedicated to religious service may be referred to as a โ€œvotary.โ€ A votary can also be a passionate advocate of something, like Pagan and Nature Spirituality education. For these reasons, the Alumni Circle has chosen Votaries as a name that reflects our mission and purpose.

The Cherry Hill Seminary Votaries Alumni Circle offers a way to give back and support current Cherry Hill Seminary students, as well as to have a voice in how CHS evolves. Itโ€™s also a great way to keep in touch and build relationships with other people who are bringing their CHS training to initiatives in their communities. We want students to know they have a support community, and a way to maintain the connections they build during their time at Cherry Hill. The Votaries Circle is also open to current students, and allows you to get to know people across the different programs at Cherry Hill Seminary. We hold virtual socials on a quarterly basis, and offer volunteer opportunities to give back to Cherry Hill. Each fall, we vote to select a recipient for the Professor of the Year Award, and contribute to the CHS annual fundraising through a matching drive. Ultimately, Votaries is and will be what its members make it, so please consider joining us today!

What our members say about Votaries:

โ€œI joined Votaries because I value our community and want to support it as much as possible.โ€ โ€“ Thomas Nowlin

โ€œI believe that community and connection are important for the health of both students and Cherry Hill. Attending to these, and one another, is especially necessary amid this time of wild and near-dystopian fears.โ€ โ€“ Scott Waterhouse

โ€œWe also want to connect, network and be a community for alumni. We are stronger together.โ€ โ€“ Jenny Zappala

โ€œI joined Votaries because it helps me stay in touch with former classmates and professors, and it’s also a great way to meet new folks at Cherry Hill. I enjoy hearing what others are doing, and it encourages me in my own spiritual practice and ever-evolving ministry. Attending seminary was such a transformational experience for me, and being part of Votaries keeps me connected to my larger Pagan family.โ€ โ€“ Wes Isley
